Botanical Textile Artist

Jenai Hooke has travelled to the far corners of the globe to learn the art of natural dyeing; her passion is Indigo and this has become the focus of her practice.

From her bushland studio in Eudlo, Jenai shares her knowledge of plant pigments, textile and fibre art through workshops, classes, community art projects and mentoring. Jenai’s skills include the use of sustainable, eco friendly materials and processes. Including Plant dyeing, eco dyeing/printing, Indigo and Shibori, Boro, Rusting, Botanical prints on paper, stitching, knitting and crochet.

Jenai has travelled to the far corners of the world to learn the art of natural dyeing; her passion is Indigo and this has become the focus of her practice. She now shares her knowledge through workshops and community art projects. She is the founder of the Sunshine Coast Natural Dyers Interest Group (SCNDIG) that now has over 130 members. Her work is shown in gallery exhibitions, public art installations, teaching workshops and master classes both nationally and internationally. Jenai has recently been appointed to the Sunshine Coast councils funding for the arts assessment committee (RADF).
